The Premises

The Tax Police School was established in 1923 by the Royal Decree n. 1223 with the mission to “provide the officer’s professional enhancement and the theoretical - practical training of the Corps’ personnel assigned to the tax - investigative police contingent”.
The Corps’ special units, responsible for the most difficult investigations in fighting against economic- financial crimes, had just been established and needed specialized personnel.

The first course started on 28th January, 1924 at the Piave barracks in Rome, where the General Headquarters are now located.
In 1933 the School was incorporated in the Officers’ School and in 1964 it was given a separate location under a Guardia di Finanza’s General Commander’s resolution (and later by the law 29th October, 1965, n. 1218).
In 1985 the School was transferred to the “Sante Laria” barracks in Rome, which had been the seat of the Academy, and then, in 2000, to the “IV Novembre” barracks at Lido di Ostia.

Under law decree 29th May, 2017, n. 95, the School has changed its denomination into Economic-Financial Police School to better reflect the enlarged Corps’ institutional attributions and tasks, not only to fight tax evasion but to work against all forms of economic-financial illegality.
